Spring break fun

Yep, he looks very FBI don't you think?
We spent some time at the nature center near us and were lucky to have one of the naturalists tell us about the animals that live there.  Most of them are hurt or are blind so they are safer living there and teaching us about those animals.
I love having 2 readers!  Terefech is so thrilled to be able to pick up books and read them all alone...just like her brother.  She said, "I thought this would never happen."

All the stuff...

Here they are with the Easter baskets.  Yes, an astronaut was visiting for the holidays.

Reading his letter from the Easter Bunny.  They asked lots of questions.  Things like...are you taking a vacation?  what language do you speak?
Can you believe the Easter Bunny knew she liked penguins?  Amazing!

Our friend Sara did these beautiful eggs.  Orange for Declan, his favorite color.  Yellow for T and inspired by the Ethiopian crosses.  Absolutely gorgeous.  The kids think they are really cool.

Decorating eggs

The kids have a great time decorating eggs for the Easter Bunny to hide.  It is funny that I remember this being a long, artistic task when I was a kid.  I think my kids feel that way too.  In reality it is such a quick activity.  Every time we color eggs I am a little disappointed that it is over so soon.  The kids had fun experimenting with different ways to color them this year.

Super Kids

A friend from high school sent the kids these awesome capes!  They are made from sweatshirts!  How cool are they!

HHS dinner

We were lucky to have a friend from high school come visit us over the weekend.  Her and her daughter were seeing a play in Charlotte so they spent an evening with us.  That always means German food and a little high school get together.  The kids bonded immediately!  It was great to see Sunday and the Slovaceks!

Spartan Race 2013

Our second event for the day was the Spartan Race.  Both kids and parents were racing-the Wagner and King clan!  The kids loved the numbers being written on their forehead (easy identification in pictures).  It was a chilly day still so everyone tried to stay warm as long as they could.
Rich and the kids flipping tires
Before the kids race...they did a half mile with obstacles and mud.

 Love Declan's finishing spirit!

And now the adults turn...a nice picture of them clean
You can see the group coming over the wall in the upper right corner.
Jill jumping over the fire.
Rich and Jill fighting the Spartans
Jill and Dan in their final steps.
 The SPARTANS!
It was a great day of accomplishments.  We really appreciate the Spartan Race supporting Homes for our Troops.

Cookies for Kids Cancer 5K

This past Saturday was a busy day.  It started with volunteering for the Cookies for Kids Cancer 5K.  It was cold and rainy but there was a great turn out for one of my favorite charities.
Love that there are so many small supporters of this great charity.

Happy Birthday Rich

Loving my Maggie

Just had to give a sweet shout out to my sweet Maggie dog.  She is getting old...she is deaf and starting to show signs of dementia.  We often have to get up with her in the night because she is restless.  We love her so much!  That sweet face never gets old.

Created for Care

I am lucky enough to head out each year to Created for Care, a weekend retreat for adoptive moms.  We attend classes, eat lots, talk lots, sing, go to hear speakers, have worship sessions, shop at organizations that are changing the world....we are busy.  My friend Jill and I were excited to see our 2 stars in a poster for one of the groups!
I managed to snag a bag of Ethiopian coffee for Rich.  We brought home pounds and pounds of this coffee from Ethiopia.  Only takes the little things to make him happy!
